Content Opt-out post link: N/A

Age: 29 years old. Hobbits come of age at 33, so in human years she'd be in her late teens, roughly

Gender/Sex: Female! Though she likes to trade her skirts and dresses for trousers and a tunic, she's still very distinctly female.

Appearance: Pippin is extremely tall for a hobbit, a whopping 4'5" where most hobbits are between 3 and 4 feet tall. The PB I chose has blondish-brown hair and blue eyes (See here). As a hobbit, she has pointed ears and hairy feet that are always bare and heavily calloused.

History: When Frodo makes the decision to move to Crickhollow, Pippin and the others discover the truth behind it all, and more or less force Frodo to allow them to accompany him. They meet Aragorn at the Prancing Pony in Bree, who becomes their guide when Gandalf does not appear. They are attacked by the Nazgul at Weathertop and Frodo is stabbed. The hobbits and Aragorn make it to Rivendell just in time to save his life, where they find Gandalf. Later, Frodo is invited to a council where representative that have gathered will decide the fate of the ring. Sam, Merry, and Pippin burst in to join Frodo, and the Fellowship of the Ring is formed. Pippin and Merry develop a strong relationship with Boromir, the son of the steward of Gondor, who is later killed defending them. Merry and Pippin are captured by Uruk-hai and carried across Rohan towards Isengard, but the Riders of Rohan catch the party and slaughter the Uruk-hai. In the chaos, the two hobbits manage to slip off and escape into Fangorn Forest. There they meet Treebeard, the leader of the Ents, a race of Trees. Merry and Pippin drink the ent-draught, which gives them incredible height, and after much deliberation, the Ents go to war against Saruman, flooding Isengard and destroying his operations. Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli find the two hobbits eating Saruman's food and smoking.

In the destruction of Isengard, the Palantir is dropped from the tower, and Pippin's curiosity is peaked. She peers into it, only to encounter Sauron himself, who comes to believe she is the hobbit bearing the ring. She is able to see the destruction of Minas Tirith from the Palantir, and so for both her safety and to help, Gandalf takes her to Gondor, separating her for the first time from Merry. In Minas Tirith, Pippin swears herself to Denethor, steward of Gondor, to attempt to make up for Boromir's death. Half-mad with grief, Denethor attempts to burn both himself and a wounded (but still alive) Faramir, in the midst of an attack on the White City. Pippin is able to find Gandalf, who helps her save Faramir. Denethor, on the other hand, leaps to his death. Merry and Pippin are reunited after the battle.

With the end nearing and Frodo and Sam at Mount Doom, Aragorn amasses an army to do the only thing they can to help; attack the Black Gate. It's suicide, but Pippin joins in to try to help Frodo. She is the first hobbit ever to kill a troll, though when the creature falls, she is trapped underneath it.

Afterwards, Pippin and the other hobbits return to the Shire, only to find Saruman has taken refuge there. The Scouring of the Shire is violent but brief. Pippin helps in rebuilding the Shire and is there to say goodbye to Frodo when he sails at the Grey Havens.

Personality:
Pippin is a handful. She's quirky and loves to laugh, but more than anything, she loves to stick her nose where it shouldn't be. She's much too curious for her own good, due a great deal in part to her age. She is very young, not even an adult by hobbit standards.

But she is also incredibly brave and loyal, stalwart to the end. She is foolish at times, but she does mean well and tries to make it up to whoever she may have wronged. Boromir's death in particular made her rethink her actions, and while she's still more likely to leap before she looks, she's getting better at looking.

Pippin loves to drink and smoke, and she has little to no sense of shame when it comes to singing and dancing in front of others, which she is certainly accustomed to doing when she's been drinking. While war has sobered her up and matured her, she still knows how to laugh and have a good time. If anything, she's come to appreciate her easy life more.

Abilities:

  • Cuteness

  • Incredible stupidity

  • Resilient to evil - Hobbit trait

  • Can decently swing a sword

  • Is capable of avoiding attention - Hobbit trait

Inventory: She carries an Elvish blade named Troll's Bane and wears the colors of Gondor.
EDIT: she now has a pony named Misty and a kitten named Clover

Anything else: Not that I can think of!
